Hello WYSA Basketball Parents,
We are very excited about the upcoming WYSA Little Dribbler Season. Please mark these dates on your calendars and note that attending ONE of the tryouts is MANDATORY (preferable the one for your grade and gender). If you do not attend a tryout, then your placement on a team could be jeopardized. Also, we are not accepting late registrations this year, so please pass the word to your athlete’s friends parents. Registration closes, Oct. 12th.

Please arrival 5-10 minutes or more prior to the time listed. Everyone attends the tryout for the FULL duration of the time, this is NOT a come and go tryout.
Team/Coach Announcement: Friday, Oct. 25th Via Email and Website
Practices Start: Week of Oct. 28th - Each team practices 1 night a week as a team. Their practice will either be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night. Every division has an open gym practice time each week as well.
1st/2nd Grade - 1 hour practices, 1 x week
3/4th Grade - 1hr 30 min practices, 1 x week
5/6th Grade- 1hr 45 min practices, 1 x week
Open Gym: 1 – 2 hrs 1 x week for each division (PLEASE take advantage of this opportunity!!)
Clinic Opportunities
Every opportunity to play and have fun will help your baller to become a better player.
We have a few clinics scheduled this year for each division. There is a minimal fee for each clinic.

Open Gym Time - PLEASE take advantage of the opportunity for your athlete to be a kid and play basketball, the more they play the better they get, the more fun they have playing the better they want to get. We will announce the in-season Open Gym days and locations once teams and practice schedules have been announced (on FB and in emails). These sessions will be supervised by a coach and are a part of your registration fee. This will be a time for your athlete to come and play. Parents are to not give any coaching cues during this time, it is a time for the athlete to play with no criticism positive or negative, just have fun playing basketball.

All Star Opportunity – We are working on our All-Star opportunity for 2019-20. More information to come. This opportunity will take place after the final league tournament. It will be a selection by the coaches and there will be a small additional fee.
I hope this information assists you and your family’s pre-planning for your basketball star. We look forward to having your young athlete play with us this year. We hope you take advantage of the extra basketball opportunities we are hosting. These opportunities are being provided to assist in making your athlete a better player. If your child is only playing/practicing 1 x a week, you are not going to see the improvement in their abilities that you are wanting to see. Please know that we are trying to give you opportunities for your child to develop into a great player, but you as parents must assist them in taking advantage of these opportunities.
Coaches are needed: If there is a coach in your family, please contact us. Having all our coaches in place prior to tryouts is imperative. If you played high school basketball or more, we need your help. Please sign-up as a coach.
High School Basketball Athletes are welcome to coach, but they MUST be partnered with an adult coach. NO Junior High Coaches are allowed.
We do have a required Coaching Education session set up for all our coaches on Sun, Oct. 27th.
